MANSAG TRAVEL FELLOWSHIP AWARD 2022

MANSAG offers various career-related opportunities and awards each year. Our goal is to expand these as a way of benefiting our members by putting our revenues back into worthy initiatives.

The Educational Committee invites applications from eligible candidates for the 2022 MANSAG Travel Fellowship Award. Eligible applicants for this award are paid-up junior doctor/allied health professional members of MANSAG and, in exceptional circumstances, medical students. Over the years, there have been outstanding recipients across different medical specialties. The last recipient was Dr. Isioma Okolo (Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the NHS Fife in Scotland) for her Paul Farmer Global Surgery Research Fellowship at the Harvard Medical School, USA.

The value of a single award is up to a maximum of £1500.00, which can be used to supplement other grants. In certain cases where there are 2 equally deserving top candidates, the maximum value of the award will be shared between the eligible applicants. The grant is available in any one of the following areas:

  • Major Overseas Grant: to enable candidates to acquire clinical /research experience
  • Conference & Educational Grant: to enable successful candidates to attend courses & meetings to present their research
  • Thesis Grant: to help with completion of a higher

All awards are at the discretion of the MANSAG Educational Committee. Applications, including the purpose of the request, a comprehensive statement of the cost and a brief CV, must be submitted by email to the Chairman, MANSAG Educational Committee, Mr. Andrew F. Alalade (andrew.alalade@nhs.net).

The deadline for submission of applications is 23:59 pm on Friday, 25th March 2022. The successful candidate(s) will be contacted by 4th April 2022. It is anticipated that the candidate(s) will make a short presentation at the 13th MANSAG Educational Symposium and Charity Ball on Saturday, 14th May 2022 in Cambridge.

On completion of the fellowship, the awardee(s) must submit a report to the Educational Committee, and the candidate(s) will be expected to give a short presentation at the 25th Annual MANSAG Conference in October 2022.
