Dear Mansagians,
“We are going to hire a coach to take us to the Annual General Conference and Meeting in Glasgow”. This was the commitment made by the members of the MANSAG Northeast chapter to ensure they turn out en masse to our 29th Annual General Conference & Meeting. What a great idea!
The MANSAG Scotland chapter, ably led by Mudasiru a Cardiothoracic Surgeon and Motolani, a community mental health professional, have been hard at work leading the efforts to welcome and host the entire MANSAG community from October 23-25, 2026, at the superb facilities of Marriott Hotel in Glasgow. This year’s conference is quite simply, the best joined up conference MANSAG has ever planned. I can only wish huge congratulations to our youngest chapter and their supporting crew for taking up this challenge.
The theme for this year’s conference is ‘Bridging Borders, Transforming Healthcare, Partnerships for Sustainable Healthcare Systems’. The pillars that underpin this theme are Professional Development, Collaborations, Global Impact and Family/Community Engagement. Throughout this year’s conference, we will hear impactful and powerful speakers sharing with delegates the models they have deployed to Bridge Borders and Transform Healthcare Systems, provide delegates with tools and resources to do the same, and learn from experts during interactive workshop sessions how they collaborated with others to transform health systems. We will launch our sustainable long-term partnerships with the GMC-UK and Sickle Cell Society -UK.
Some of our speakers include Ms. ‘Foluke Ajayi, CEO of Airedale Hospitals NHS Trust; Professor Mel Gladstone, Professor of Early Child Hood Development; Dr. Amara Elendu Management Expert at Aston Business School; Dr. Segun Ebitanmi CEO of CareOne Hospitals Group Lagos; Ms. Ibifunke Pegba-Otemolu, Specialist Registrar and Author; Pharm Lola Dabiri; Dr Adeyileka-Tracz CEO of Diabetes Africa; Mr. John James CEO of Sickle Cell Society-UK; Ms. Tista Chakravarty-Gannon, Director of Outreach, GMC-UK; Prof Bond Anyaehie, Vice Chancellor, UNIZIK Nigeria amongst many of the faculty delivering lectures, workshops, discussion panels, mentorship sessions and much more in Glasgow.
In addition, there are abstract presentation sessions for budding researchers and themed sessions for family members and children. There is a planned excursion to National Transport Museum in Glasgow, Film Premieres, and a training session on Basic Life Support for accompanying young people and family members. At the end of a relaxing but productive conference, we will dance away at our Gala Night and Awards Ceremony after a dinner full of rich Nigerian Cuisine. Please visit
As an organisation, your executive committee is forward looking, building on the achievements we have made in the past and positioning the organisation for the current and future challenges that health care professionals face in the UK and globally. Dr John Bolodeoku the Allied Healthcare Professional Representative on the executive committee, is leading a Task and Finish working group to address a specific request by our membership at the 2025 Annual General Meeting. How do we ensure that all members of our organisation – medical and non-medical members have a home in MANSAG and be supported to flourish and thrive as part of the organisation?. This request by our members comes at a vital moment in the evolution of healthcare delivery around the globe as we transition from a uni-professional led model to a multi professional team delivered model of care. MANSAG must respond to this process in a considered, thoughtful, and deliberate manner. I’m grateful to John and the working group for their passion towards making sure we get this process right for MANSAG. If you would like to contribute to this initiative, please contact John at info@mansag.org.
I am thrilled to share that we will soon start a new programme with GMC-UK for new doctors that have transitioned to the UK called ‘Welcome to UK Practice Induction programme. This is a twice-yearly programme scheduled to run in April and October each year. This initiative enables MANSAG to partner with the GMC-UK to deliver a tailored induction programme for Nigerian doctors intending to work in the UK. More importantly, we will ensure each cohort is supported within local chapters and are followed up to learn what their progress has been. We are also starting an additional Train the Trainer programme on ‘Cultural Competence and Early Resolution’ that will upskill senior clinicians in Medical Education and Healthcare management to support healthcare professionals within their spheres of influence. The first Induction training programme is on 10 October 2026 I’m grateful to Dr. Oge Ilozue, Prof Okike and Dr Asumu for their support in seeing this initiative to fruition. If you want to be part of this programme please email info@mansag.org and we will get back to you.
We are also evolving a new membership strategy for MANSAG as we develop models to ensure each Mansagian, – from a clinical student to a retired member and their families – has an important and valued role to play in the life and work of MANSAG. The MANSAG leadership team is working at pace to roll out our 18- month strategy based of five pillars – Futures, Chapters, Partners, Global Impact and Cares. Underpinning these five pillars are four cross cutting themes: Effective Publicity Strategy; Sustainable Financial Strategy; Robust Secretariat Machinery; Seamless evidence-based data driven framework. This forward-looking strategy is centred on three simple questions: Who did MANSAG reach? What did they do next? What value did MANSAG create? More information about the 18-month strategy will be shared at Town Halls and during the Annual General Conference and Meeting in Glasgow. If you have suggestions to make our strategy more impactful, please contact us at info@mansag.org

And finally,
I have been wowed by the sense of community that I have experienced as I have spoken to many Mansagians during my time in this role. Mansagians like Queen who have written to share their thoughts about the way forward for MANSAG or Rosaline who spoke so eloquently at the MANSAG Northeast social event advocating for a robust induction offer for new members so they too can sense the wonderful community that we have in MANSAG from the get-go. It is certainly something to consider as we take the next steps in our collective journey together.

And speaking of journeys, whether travelling in a car, on a bike, walking, flying, in trains or in a hired community coach like our MANSAG family from MANSAG Northeast, I wish everyone safe travels to Glasgow.
See you in Glasgow…
Together we transform
Until next time
Remain Blessed
