Dear Mansagian,
During the session on Leadership in Healthcare, at the 26Th Annual General Conference in London, Ms. Gubby Ayida FRCOG, the Nigerian Chief Executive Officer of Evelina Women and Children’s Hospital dazzled the audience with her vision of how she is leading with excellence, an organisation of 25,000 people. You must have the vision, the strategy, the boldness and the clarity of purpose to lead your organisation she stressed. As we rose excitedly to her inspiring words, she grounded us with her wise caution, but you cannot boil an ocean.
Two years later we are set to host our 28th Annual General Conference and Meeting, this time in the cool, calm, calculating and leafy Cambridgeshire suburb of Cambourne. This conference has been designed from the outset with the family in mind. It is the worker in us the begets the family and the family in us that begets the worker. This conference celebrates both. The doors open at 1600 hr on Friday 24th October 2025 and the conference will end formally at 1200 hr on Sunday 26th October 2025.
The conference has already broken a few records – We have had over 70 abstracts accepted for the conference, we have dedicated 10hrs of activities to our resident colleagues, and 10 hours of activities for accompanying family members and children. We have 10 breakout session led by facilitators from the UK, from Nigeria and from across the globe. We have engaged several partners to work with MANSAG before, during and after the conference to ensure that our members are flourishing and thriving in their chosen careers. We have included several side sessions that would interest colleagues so their participation at this general conference will be impactful and meaningful. MDCN will attend the conference to license those of us that want to practice in Nigeria.
The Executive Committee, East of England Local Organising Committee and the National Committees have worked synergistically to organise what I am sure will be a truly general conference. I want you and your family to come to this event and celebrate your achievements with like-minded members and their families.

And finally,
It has been a very busy year for MANSAG. The conference and general meeting is an opportunity to take stock and reflect on our journey so far, from a newborn baby 28 years ago to now, a young adult forging its way in a complex and rapidly changing world. In the past 12 months, we have made efforts to re-organise our secretariat, to identify our members, to refresh our website, to build relationships with various partners, to raise funds for our work, to become impactful in our diaspora work, to increase our membership, to advocate for each of our members, to reenergise our regional chapters, to state clearly to everyone what our mission is.
It seems very much that a lot is happening in MANSAG, that we are doing too much, that we are stretching ourselves beyond our limits and capabilities but remember, you can’t boil an ocean. However, each new member that joins MANSAG, each event hosted by a chapter, each new activity we conceive and implement, each new seminar we plan, each new organisation that partners with us, are what makes our mission as a Charity dedicated to the welfare of our members possible. Any little thing we determine to deliver is certainly within our gift to do. It is those individual droplets of water that ultimately turn into an ocean. No, we cannot boil an ocean, …… but we can boil a kettle!
I look forward to welcoming you to our 28th Annual General Conference and Meeting in Cambourne in a few days. Please make the most of the mentorship, sponsorship and networking opportunities that will be on offer at the conference and truly enjoy yourself!
Remember as Mansagians, Together, we Transform!
Until next time,
Remain Blessed.
Jide,
Dr. Jide Menakaya
President MANSAG
