Dear Colleagues,
The rate of COVID-19 infection is rapidly rising from the first case detected in December in Wuhan.
On Thursday, 12.03.2020, the UK government escalated its coronavirus response to the “delay” phase, with the government now advising anyone who suffers any symptoms to stay at home for seven days. The move came after the number of UK cases reached 590, up 134 from Wednesday’s figure of 456. There have been 10 deaths. As a result of the increased spread of Covid-19, the members of my executive have taken the difficult decision to cancel the forthcoming 11th MANSAG Annual Educational Symposium and Charity Ball due to take place in Nottingham on Saturday, 16th May 2020.
The decision has not been taken lightly and it is to protect the health of our members and guests, along with supporting the global containment and reduction in the spread of Covid-19. With over 500 people involved each day, the majority of whom work in the health service, it is felt that the only responsible action is to cancel the meeting in timely manner.
