Hello Mansagians,
‘I thank all of you’ was the heartfelt statement of appreciation that President Bola Tinubu expressed to the leaders of the seven global Medical Diaspora Associations when we paid him a courtesy call as part of the National Diaspora Day Celebrations.
It was the culmination of a series of events that was coordinated and planned over the last 15 months involving Medical Teams in America (ANPA), Australia (NAMDA) , Canada (CANPAD) , Germany (NMA-G), South Africa (NDF-SA) Europe & America (CMF) and UK (MANSAG).
It was a privilege to coordinate the efforts of our colleagues across the globe to bring cutting edge technology, innovative skills training, and impactful treatment programs back to our country as part of National Diaspora Week themed; Harnessing Global Diaspora Medical Expertise to Strengthen Local Healthcare for National Development’.
MANSAG was assigned to Kaduna Kano and Sokoto States where we delivered specialist simulation and debriefing skills training to 80 health care professionals together with skills on how to design simulation scenarios and how to conduct quality improvement programs in local facilities.
The immediate outcome of our programme was that less than 20% of the participants stated that they lacked the skills to conduct simulation and debrief training before their training, this increased to more than 80% afterwards. All the participants – 100% – committed to cascading scenario sessions and debriefing at the facilities. We also committed to mentoring and supporting local teams.
On our return to Abuja from the three-day intensive immersive course we held a detailed debriefing event with the National MAMII Leads at SWAp Coordinating Office in Abuja and attended the National Diaspora Day Activities where we all shared a discussion panel of the projects that we carried out across all the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria.
MANSAG was honoured to receive the National Diaspora Merit Award presented to us by Dr. Iziaq Salako, the Honourable Minister of State for Health.
Whilst this was going on I am thrilled that our regional chapters have continued to reach out to their members at local barbecues and summer events. Thank you to MANSAG Southwest for an amazing beach barbecue and social outing.

In my work with Nigerian leaders over the last year as we planned for the DHII 2026, I was impressed by the determination of the Nigerian State to facilitate the involvement of our members in the UK who want to contribute to improving healthcare in Nigeria in any capacity. The Federal Ministry of Health has now set up a new portal to match clinicians to areas of need in Nigeria.
This portal is now live –

There are also other organisations in the private sector that are keen to work with our members to deliver high-quality care to patients in Nigeria. Your engagement will be most welcome. Please reach out to me to discuss your needs.
Whatever you do, we should ensure we do not worsen the fragmentation of services but strive to ensure that every engagement is monitored and its impact evaluated.
MANSAG will aim to bring members with similar skills to work together so their reach and influence will be greater.
President Tinubu thanked all of us from the diaspora for participating in DHII 2026 whilst also imploring us to do more for Nigerian healthcare within our areas of expertise. On behalf of the MANSAG community I thank all those who participated in the DHII 2026 programme and implore all of us to make a commitment towards improving healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
